St. Louis, MO (January 9, 2026) – A chain-reaction crash involving three vehicles on the northbound I-55 ramp leading to northbound I-270 left one man injured on Thursday morning in St. Louis County.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:24 a.m. on January 8. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision began when a 2017 Infiniti QX30 struck the rear of a 2005 Toyota XB. The force of the impact caused the Toyota to skid and slide, during which its front right side collided with the rear left of a 2023 Dodge Durango.
The driver of the Infiniti, a 34-year-old man from Festus, sustained injuries. Emergency medical services from the Mehlville Fire Protection District transported him to Mercy Hospital South for treatment. No other injuries were reported. The Infiniti and the Toyota both sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene, while the Dodge Durango had minor damage and was able to be driven away.
All three vehicles were traveling northbound at the time of the incident. Troopers T.A. Gaedke and D.B. Howell assisted at the scene as part of the ongoing investigation, which is being led by TPR E.J. Raya of Troop C. Authorities have not yet confirmed the specific cause of the initial rear-end impact.
