Why Crashes Near Highway On-Ramps Can Be Especially Hazardous
Entrance ramps are areas where vehicles accelerate and merge into fast-moving traffic, creating conditions that require drivers to make quick decisions. Congestion, changing speeds, and limited reaction time can increase the risk of collisions near freeway access points.
Following crashes involving law enforcement vehicles, investigators typically examine vehicle damage, roadway evidence, witness statements, and any available dash camera or surveillance footage. They also review traffic conditions and each driver’s actions to determine how the collision occurred and whether any contributing factors played a role.
