What Factors Are Often Reviewed in Bicycle-Vehicle Collisions?
Crashes involving bicycles and vehicles can happen for several reasons, especially during nighttime hours. Low visibility, limited lighting, and roadway positioning may affect how well drivers and riders see each other.
Investigators often look at vehicle speed, lighting conditions, and whether reflective gear or lights were in use. Road design and lane markings can also affect how bicycles and cars share space.
In many areas, bicyclists are allowed to ride in the roadway, particularly when no designated bike lane is available. Understanding how these factors interact can help clarify how a collision occurred and what safety measures may reduce similar incidents in the future.
