Tallahassee, FL (May 5, 2026) – Four people were injured on Monday evening after a multi-vehicle crash involving three vehicles on Capital Circle SE in Leon County.
The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on May 4 at the intersection of Capital Circle SE and Woodville Highway. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 22-year-old man driving one of the vehicles was allegedly operating recklessly while attempting to evade law enforcement.
Officials said the vehicle struck a second car while changing lanes at high speed. It then entered the center median, hit a tree, and overturned multiple times. The second vehicle was pushed into a third vehicle, which also overturned.
All drivers and passengers were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The driver of the first vehicle and a passenger in the third vehicle sustained serious injuries. No fatalities have been reported.
All six lanes of Capital Circle SE were closed for approximately three hours as emergency units responded and cleared the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
We hope for strength and healing for those hurt in this collision.
Why High-Speed Evasive Driving Can Lead to Chain-Reaction Crashes
Crashes involving high-speed maneuvers often escalate quickly, especially when multiple vehicles are nearby. Sudden lane changes can reduce the time other drivers have to react, increasing the risk of impact.
Once a vehicle leaves its lane or enters a median, loss of control becomes more likely. Rolling events can occur when speed combines with sharp directional changes or uneven terrain.
Multi-vehicle crashes can develop when the first impact causes secondary collisions behind or beside the initial crash. These chain reactions are more common in congested areas or major intersections.
