Taney Co, MO (January 14, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in Taney County Tuesday afternoon resulted in both drivers being transported to hospitals for treatment. The crash occurred at approximately 4:37 p.m. at the junction of US 65 and Ridgedale.
Authorities with Troop D reported that a 78-year-old man driving a 2002 Ford Escape northbound failed to stop for a red traffic signal and collided with a westbound 2007 Ford Edge. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, which were later removed by separate towing companies.
Emergency crews arrived quickly and began rendering aid. The driver of the Ford Edge, a 37-year-old woman from Hollister, sustained moderate injuries and was taken by EMS to Cox South in Springfield. The male driver of the Escape suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for further evaluation.
Troopers confirmed that both individuals were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The intersection remained partially blocked for a period as first responders cleared debris and conducted an initial investigation.
Law enforcement officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the traffic signal violation that appears to have been a contributing factor.
We extend our thoughts to both individuals recovering from this incident and hope for their swift and full recovery.
