New York City, NY (August 28, 2026) – Three people were hurt Thursday morning after a Chevrolet Corvette struck a Mercedes-Benz SUV and went onto a sidewalk in Inwood, Manhattan. The collision happened around 6:30 a.m. at Sherman Ave and W 204th St.
Police said the Corvette was traveling east on Sherman Ave before hitting the Mercedes at the intersection. The force sent the Corvette toward the sidewalk, where it struck a 34-year-old pedestrian entering the crosswalk.
The pedestrian was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition. The 27-year-old Corvette driver and a passenger were also hospitalized with stable conditions.
The Mercedes hit a parked, unoccupied moped after the initial accident. Its driver left the SUV and fled before police arrived.
Police arrested the Corvette driver and continued searching for the Mercedes driver. The investigation into the wreck remains ongoing. We hope everyone hurt makes a full recovery.
