Bishop, CA (July 9, 2026) – A three-vehicle traffic collision with reported injuries disrupted travel along U.S. Highway 395 near Ed Powers Road in Bishop on Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch log, the collision was reported shortly before noon. Initial reports indicated three vehicles were involved, with debris scattered across the northbound lanes. Later updates identified a gray Toyota RAV4, a Ford Crown Victoria, and a tan sedan among the vehicles involved.
Emergency units arrived and began treating the people involved while traffic was heavily affected in both directions. The collision blocked the southbound lanes and halted northbound traffic, leading to traffic breaks and detours. Southbound vehicles were diverted onto Ed Powers Road, while additional traffic was rerouted at Sawmill Road. Tow trucks were requested to remove the Toyota RAV4 and the Ford Crown Victoria from the highway.
The identities of those involved and the number of people hurt had not been released at the time of publication. The cause of the collision remains under investigation as additional information is gathered.
