What Typically Happens After a Left-of-Center Truck Crash in Ohio?
A left-of-center crash occurs when a vehicle crosses the centerline into oncoming traffic. These collisions are among the most serious on rural two-lane roads because there is little time or space for either driver to react. When large trucks are involved, the force of the impact is significantly greater than in a typical passenger vehicle crash.
Trailers add another layer of complexity to these accidents. When a truck pulling a trailer is struck, the trailer can jackknife, tip, or push the tow vehicle off the road entirely: all of which can increase the risk of serious injury to everyone involved. The position and weight of the trailer at the moment of contact are usually part of any post-crash review.
Air medical transport is typically reserved for the most serious cases, particularly when a trauma center with specialized surgical capabilities is needed quickly. Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus is a Level I trauma facility, meaning it is fully equipped to handle the most critical injuries.
