Charlotte, NC (August 6, 2026) – Three people were injured in a crash on Interstate 77 South near Exit 1A for Westinghouse Blvd in Charlotte on Wednesday, August 5.
According to officials, the crash occurred before 4:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-77 just past the Westinghouse Blvd exit. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where all southbound lanes were closed, causing significant traffic delays during the morning commute.
Medic officials said three people were transported to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. One person sustained serious injuries, while the other two suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Officials have not announced when the interstate is expected to fully reopen.
