Washington Co., TN (May 29, 2026) – One person was injured Thursday evening, May 28, after a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 11-E in Washington County.
The crash happened around 4:00 p.m. between the Industrial Park and Grandview School. The Washington County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office said Highway 11-E was closed in both directions for nearly six hours while crews worked at the scene.
Deputies rerouted traffic onto nearby backroads during the closure. BrightRidge crews also repaired a utility pole and line that were damaged in the wreck, and some nearby homes were without power during that time.
The roadway reopened around 10:00 p.m. Officials said one person was injured, and no fatalities were reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. We hope the injured person receives the care and support needed during recovery.
Why Evening Highway Crashes Can Disrupt Traffic and Utilities
Evening highway crashes can create major delays when multiple vehicles are involved and both directions of traffic must close. Drivers may need to use smaller backroads, which can increase congestion in nearby neighborhoods.
When a crash damages a utility pole or power line, crews must also make the area safe before traffic can fully return. That work may include shutting off power, repairing lines, and checking for hazards near the roadway. Investigators may review vehicle positions, road conditions, traffic flow, speed, and damage to nearby utilities to understand how the crash happened.
