Why Center Line Crossings Often Lead to Head-On Collisions
Head-on crashes are among the most serious types of roadway accidents. When a vehicle crosses the center line, it can enter directly into the path of oncoming traffic, leaving little time for drivers to react.
These incidents may happen for several reasons, including distraction, fatigue, or roadway conditions. Even at moderate speeds, the force of impact in a head-on collision can be significant because both vehicles are moving toward each other.
Wearing seat belts can help reduce the severity of injuries in these crashes. Restraints help keep occupants in place and lower the risk of being thrown forward during impact. On city streets like SE California Ave, staying alert and maintaining lane position are key factors in preventing serious collisions.
