Sacramento, CA (August 30, 2026) – One person was killed and another seriously injured after they were struck by a Union Pacific train in north Sacramento on Friday, August 28.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. on the tracks in the 2500 block of Grand Avenue. The Sacramento Police Department said the train collided with two pedestrians. Union Pacific said the incident did not occur at a railroad crossing. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The train crew was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
