Huntley, IL (May 29, 2026) – Two people died following a head-on crash near the intersection of Sandwald Rd and Big Timber Rd in unincorporated Huntley on Thursday evening.
Emergency units were dispatched to the roadway at approximately 5:28 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported a two-vehicle collision with injuries. Initial reports indicated that people remained inside the vehicles and that airbags had deployed.
When crews arrived, they found both vehicles in the roadway west of the intersection with extensive front-end damage. Fire officials said both drivers were unresponsive. Personnel reached the occupants without the need for extrication.
A male driver and a female driver were pronounced dead following the crash. Their identities had not been released as of the initial report.
