Revere, MA (July 21, 2026) – Two drivers were hospitalized after a collision on Monday evening, July 20, on Revere Beach Parkway near Winthrop Avenue. The roadway was closed for about an hour following the 6:00 p.m. accident.

The police attempted to stop a vehicle they believed may have been stolen. The driver continued along the parkway and struck at least one other vehicle near Winthrop Avenue, according to the initial report.

Witnesses said the pursued vehicle first hit a white car before continuing off the road. It then struck a parked car at an apartment complex, where broken glass and tire marks were visible.

The pursued driver reportedly tried to leave on foot but was taken into custody with help from nearby citizens. Emergency units brought that person and the other operator to a hospital. Their medical conditions were not released.

Traffic was redirected toward Belle Circle while the vehicles were removed. Authorities continue reviewing the events leading to the wreck.

We hope both people hurt receive appropriate care and recover fully.

Why Busy Roads Face Added Risks During High-Speed Chases

Police pursuits can create sudden changes in traffic flow, especially on roads lined with intersections, homes, and businesses. Drivers nearby may encounter unexpected braking, rapid lane changes, or vehicles leaving the pavement.

Parked cars and apartment entrances can add further hazards when a moving vehicle travels beyond the main lanes. Limited space may leave little room for motorists or pedestrians to move away from danger. Debris can also spread across parking lots and travel lanes.

Temporary closures allow damaged vehicles and broken materials to be removed safely. They may also give crews room to document tire marks, vehicle positions, and property damage. The length of a closure usually depends on how many vehicles are involved, whether traffic signals are blocked, and how quickly the road can be cleared.
