Montgomery County, TX (August 28, 2026) – Two people sustained minor injuries on Wednesday afternoon after a Jeep struck a Conroe Independent School District bus near Knob Hollow and Jonquil Pathway. The collision happened around 4 p.m. in the Gleneagle subdivision.

School officials said 16 students were aboard the bus when the Jeep hit it from behind. None of the students were injured, according to officials. The two occupants of the Jeep, described as Hispanic males, fled after the accident. One suspect was later taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered.

The search for the suspects prompted Irons Junior High to enter secure mode as a precaution. Students and staff remained indoors until the suspects were detained. Drivers were asked to avoid the area while emergency units worked there. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under investigation.

We hope those who were hurt make a quick recovery.

What Should Drivers Know About School Bus Safety?

School buses carry many passengers, so crashes involving them can raise safety concerns even when students are not injured. Drivers should remain alert around buses, particularly near residential neighborhoods and school zones where children may be present.

Motorists should maintain a safe following distance and avoid passing a bus when prohibited. Sudden stops can occur when buses pick up or drop off students, making adequate space especially important.

Drivers approaching school zones should follow posted speed limits and watch for changing traffic patterns. Children may enter or leave a bus from areas that are not immediately visible to approaching motorists. Staying focused and reducing distractions can give drivers more time to react safely.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
