What Should Drivers Know When Passing Roadside Work Vehicles?
Drivers should slow down and give roadside work vehicles plenty of space. Tractors, mowing equipment, and other maintenance vehicles may move slowly or operate close to active traffic lanes.
Motorists should watch for warning signs, workers, and equipment along the shoulder. Reducing speed can provide more time to react if a maintenance vehicle enters the roadway. Drivers should also avoid distractions and remain prepared for sudden changes in traffic patterns near roadside work.
