San Diego County, CA (July 15, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 8 near La Posta Road left two people injured on Tuesday evening in eastern San Diego County.
The collision was reported at approximately 5:25 p.m. Initial dispatch information indicated that a red Honda Civic and a silver two-door Mercedes-Benz were involved. Both eastbound lanes were blocked, and one of the vehicles came to rest across the roadway, blocking the westbound lanes.
Dispatch records indicated one person was trapped inside a vehicle, while several passing motorists stopped to help and attempted to open the vehicle doors before emergency units arrived. Two people were reported hurt, and traffic was stopped in both lanes until the roadway reopened at approximately 6:29 p.m.
The identities of those involved have not been released. The investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing as additional information becomes available.
