Jasper, MO (July 22, 2026) – Two people were hurt on Monday night after a two-vehicle roadway mishap on Highway M about two miles south of Jasper. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the collision happened at approximately 9:20 p.m. on July 20.

According to investigators, a 2019 Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound when its 33-year-old driver turned into the path of a westbound 2011 Ford F-150. The two pickup trucks made contact, leaving both vehicles with total damage. They were removed from the roadway by separate towing companies.

The drivers, a 33-year-old man from Jasper, Missouri, and a 70-year-old man from Wichita, Kansas, each received moderate injuries. Both were wearing safety restraints and were taken to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for treatment. No names or additional details about those involved had been released at the time of publication.

The investigation into what led to the collision is still in progress. We wish both drivers a full and speedy recovery.

How Left-Turn Collisions Tend to Occur on Rural Highways

Left-turn collisions are among the more common types of roadway crashes on two-lane highways. They can happen when a driver misjudges the speed or distance of an approaching vehicle while attempting to cross or enter the opposite lane. Reduced visibility, nighttime driving, and limited reaction time may make these situations more difficult for everyone on the road.

After this type of crash, investigators often examine vehicle positions, roadway markings, skid marks, and witness statements to better understand what happened. They may also review weather conditions, lighting, and any physical evidence from the vehicles. These details help create a clearer picture of the sequence of actions leading up to the collision while supporting an accurate reconstruction of the roadway encounter.
