Nixa, MO (May 23, 2026) – Two people were injured Thursday afternoon after a car struck the rear of a riding mower west of Nixa in Christian County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 2:05 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, along Inman Rd about one-half mile west of Nixa. Investigators said a 2009 Honda Fit and a 2003 Husqvarna riding mower were both traveling westbound when the Honda hit the back of the mower.

Both vehicles sustained total damage and were removed from the roadway by a towing company. No additional information about the people involved was immediately released.
The investigation into the roadway collision remains active as investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the impact. We are keeping those hurt in our thoughts and wishing them a smooth recovery.
What Risks Are Associated With Rear-End Crashes on Rural Roads?
Rear-end crashes on rural roads can become especially dangerous when slower-moving equipment shares the roadway with passenger vehicles. Drivers may not immediately recognize farm equipment, riding mowers, or utility vehicles ahead, particularly on roads with curves, hills, or limited shoulders.
Speed differences between vehicles can reduce reaction time. If a driver is distracted or following too closely, even a brief delay in braking may lead to a serious collision. Smaller vehicles such as riding mowers also provide far less protection during an impact.
Investigators often examine roadway visibility, vehicle lighting, and stopping distance after these types of crashes. Tire marks, debris patterns, and damage to the vehicles may also help explain how the collision occurred and whether either driver had enough time to avoid contact.
