Austin, TX (August 25, 2026) – Two people were injured on Sunday afternoon as a fire spread from the Austin Country Flea Market into nearby brush.
The fire began shortly after 6 p.m. in the 9500 block of US 290. One large structure at the flea market became engulfed in flames before the fire spread to multiple acres of brush.
The brush fire also reached a pile of tires, producing a large column of black smoke. Emergency units contained the flames Sunday night, preventing further spread through the main portion of the fire.
The two people suffered minor injuries, though the fire department did not say whether they were firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and additional details were not immediately available.
