Blair County, PA (June 24, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized following a four-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Monday afternoon on Frankstown Road near Hollidaysburg in Blair County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the collision was reported at approximately 3:30 p.m. on June 22. Investigators said the crash began when a vehicle stopped on the roadway was struck from behind by two other vehicles. The impact pushed the stopped vehicle into the opposite lane, where it collided with a fourth vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and assisted those involved. Two people sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A witness reported that one of the vehicles caught fire following the collision. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the fire or whether it contributed to any injuries.

Police said two of the damaged vehicles required towing from the scene, while the other two could be driven away after the crash.

Traffic in the area was affected while crews worked to assist victims, remove damaged vehicles, and investigate the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.

We hope those injured in this accident make a full recovery.

Why Chain-Reaction Crashes Tend to Happen in Congested Traffic

Rear-end collisions can quickly escalate into multi-vehicle crashes when traffic slows or stops unexpectedly. These chain-reaction accidents frequently occur on busy roadways where drivers have limited time to react to changing traffic conditions.

Even minor injuries from crashes can require hospitalization for evaluation and treatment. Emergency responders must manage multiple vehicles, injured occupants, and traffic disruptions simultaneously.

Investigators reviewing chain-reaction collisions typically examine the following distances, vehicle speeds, driver actions, and roadway conditions to determine how the sequence of impacts unfolded. Motorists are encouraged to maintain safe following distances and remain alert to traffic ahead to reduce the risk of similar incidents.
