Baker County, FL (June 21, 2026) – Two Jacksonville residents lost their lives after a vehicle crashed through a bridge railing and became submerged in a body of water along CR-23C near Ruben Crawford Rd in Baker County on Friday morning, June 19.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. when a sedan traveling eastbound on CR-23C lost control for reasons that remain under investigation.
Authorities reported that the vehicle left the roadway, crashed through a bridge railing, and plunged into the water below. The sedan came to rest upside down and fully submerged beneath the bridge.
The occupants, a 31-year-old Jacksonville man and a 32-year-old Jacksonville woman, were trapped inside the vehicle. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not released additional details regarding what may have caused the driver to lose control. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash.
