Siler City, NC (July 7, 2026) – Two people were killed, and another person was injured following a house fire early on Sunday morning, July 5, on the 1700 block of Westmont Drive in Siler City.
Officials said crews found the home heavily damaged by the flames. Despite rescue efforts, two family members died at the scene, while another person was taken to a nearby hospital with burns. The extent of that person’s injuries has not been released.
Family members identified the victims as 53-year-old Claudia Zapata and her 19-year-old son, Alberto Charles. According to relatives, multiple people were inside the home when the fire started around 4:30 a.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
