Grand Lake Township, MN (July 7, 2026) – A man was injured on Sunday evening, July 5, after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 53 and Bergstrom Junction in Grand Lake Township.
The collision occurred around 8:16 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Investigators said a 2023 Kia Sorento traveling southbound and a 1995 Lexus ES traveling northbound collided near Bergstrom Junction. The Lexus driver, Joseph Charles Padden of Hibbing, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Essentia St. Mary’s.
The Kia driver, 35-year-old Kelsey Marie Jorge of Duluth, was not injured. Both vehicles deployed airbags, and road conditions were reported as dry. The crash remains under investigation, and authorities will release additional details as they become available.
