Why Are Intersection Crashes Common Across Tennessee?
Intersections are among the most frequent locations for traffic collisions due to the number of vehicles crossing paths, turning, merging, and stopping within a confined area. Even when injuries are not life-threatening, crashes at intersections can result in significant vehicle damage and disruptions to traffic flow.
Investigators examining intersection crashes typically review traffic signal timing, vehicle movements, witness statements, roadway conditions, and any available surveillance footage. These factors help authorities determine the sequence of events and identify any contributing circumstances.
Understanding how and why intersection crashes occur can assist transportation officials in improving roadway safety and reducing future collisions.
