Palm River-Clair Mel, FL (August 30, 2026) – Two people died after a multi-vehicle collision involving two motorcycles and a pickup truck on Friday night in Palm River-Clair Mel. The accident happened around 9:10 p.m. on August 28, on US 41 near 24th Avenue South.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 44-year-old Ruskin man was driving a Chevy Colorado westbound on 24th Avenue South. At the intersection, he turned left into the path of a northbound Kawasaki motorcycle. The motorcycle was operated by a 31-year-old Tampa man, who had an 18-year-old Clearwater woman riding as a passenger. The motorcycle struck the turning Chevy.
A second Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling northbound behind them. Its 20-year-old Tampa rider swerved right to avoid the collision, causing his motorcycle to overturn. Emergency responders took all three motorcycle and vehicle occupants to a local hospital. The 31-year-old motorcycle rider and his 18-year-old passenger later died from their injuries. The incident remains under review as officials continue examining the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
