Ventura, CA (January 9, 2026) – A fatal collision was reported Tuesday morning on westbound State Route 126 just east of the S Kimball Rd off-ramp in Ventura County.
The incident occurred around 9:54 a.m. and involved a black SUV, believed to be a Chevrolet Avalanche. According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway. Sadly, at least one fatality was confirmed at the scene.
Emergency personnel, including CHP officers and animal control, responded to assist not only with the crash investigation but also with a dog that was found in the vehicle. The pet was safely turned over to the victim’s family, who later arrived on scene and took possession of both the vehicle and the animal.
Tow services were canceled after the family assumed responsibility for removing the vehicle. No further details about the cause of the crash or the identity of the deceased have been released at this time.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the fatal incident.
