How Are School Bus Crashes Handled?
School buses are built with safety features designed to protect children. High seat backs, reinforced sides, and bright markings help reduce the risk of injury in a crash. Even so, any collision involving a bus is taken seriously.
When a bus is involved in an accident, the first priority is checking on the students. Staff members often assist responders in contacting parents and arranging safe transportation home.
Minor injuries to adults on board may occur due to movement inside the bus during impact. Safety reviews typically examine roadway conditions, vehicle position, and other factors to determine how the crash happened.
