The straight truck's driver, a 41-year-old man from Rice Lake, had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and the press release indicated alcohol was not a factor for either.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do weather and road conditions affect crash risk?
Wet, icy or poorly lit roads can make passing maneuvers and stopping distances harder to judge, raising the chance of a collision like this one. Drivers should adjust speed to match visibility and surface conditions, not just the posted limit.
What should someone do right after a two-vehicle crash?
Call 911, check for injuries, and move to a safe spot off the roadway if the vehicles are drivable. Exchange information with the other driver and wait for law enforcement to document the scene before leaving.
Where do most highway crashes like this happen?
Collisions involving a passing maneuver commonly occur on rural two-lane highways where drivers try to get around slower traffic in the face of oncoming vehicles. Clear sightlines and patience before passing cut down on this risk.
