Why Crashes Involving Commercial Vehicles Can Increase Injury Risks
Collisions involving larger vehicles like U-Haul trucks can lead to more serious injuries due to their size and weight compared to standard passenger cars. When impact occurs, smaller vehicles often absorb more of the force, increasing the likelihood of injury to occupants.
Residential intersections and roadway entrances, such as those near neighborhoods, can also present challenges because of frequent turning movements and changing traffic flow. These conditions may reduce reaction time for drivers, especially when multiple vehicles are present.
After crashes involving mixed vehicle sizes, investigators typically review speed, right-of-way, and roadway positioning to understand how the collision occurred. These findings help clarify contributing factors and guide future safety improvements in similar areas.
