How Crashes Can Occur When One Vehicle Is Stopped
Collisions can still happen even when one vehicle is not moving. Drivers approaching an intersection may misjudge whether a stopped vehicle will remain in place or begin moving into traffic.
Visibility can also affect how quickly a driver recognizes a stationary vehicle, especially if it is positioned near a crossing point. In some cases, distractions or speed can limit reaction time, increasing the risk of impact.
Intersections connecting highways and county roads often involve different traffic patterns. Drivers must stay alert to vehicles that may be waiting, turning, or entering the roadway, even when conditions appear clear.
