Wichita, KS (May 18, 2026) – A woman died after a crash at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Hydraulic Avenue in central Wichita in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 16. Emergency units responded to the scene at approximately 1:19 a.m.
A female passenger was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. The driver, Cesar Arreola-Garcia, 20, remained at the scene and was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Arreola-Garcia was subsequently arrested on charges of second-degree murder, possession of stolen property, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. No additional details about the circumstances of the crash have been confirmed at this time, but the authorities continue to investigate it, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
