Wrong-Way Driving Risks on Highway Exit Ramps
Routes carrying regional traffic near Interstate 135 and Lincoln Street can experience delays after accidents. Crews in Wichita prioritize clearing hazards and restoring safe travel when collisions occur in these areas.
Wrong-way driving incidents sometimes occur when a driver mistakenly enters a highway ramp designed for traffic exiting the roadway. Confusing layouts, poor visibility at night, or driver error may lead to vehicles traveling against the intended flow of traffic.
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes because both vehicles may be moving toward each other at high speeds. When these incidents happen on ramps or near highway junctions, the confined space can leave little time for drivers to react or avoid impact.
