What Factors Are Often Reviewed After a Pedestrian Crash on a Highway?
When a pedestrian crash happens on a highway, several details are usually reviewed to better understand the situation. Road design is one factor, including lane width, lighting, and nighttime visibility. These elements can affect how quickly a driver can see someone in the roadway.
Traffic speed is also examined. Highways often have faster-moving vehicles, which can reduce reaction time. Even a short delay can make it harder to avoid a person in the lane.
Positioning on the road matters as well. Investigators often look at where the person was located and how long they may have been there. This can help build a clearer picture of how the crash unfolded.
