Why Pedestrian Crashes Involving Large Trucks Can Be Severe
Collisions involving pedestrians and large trucks often result in serious injuries due to the size and weight of commercial vehicles. Even at low speeds, trucks have large blind spots that can make it difficult for drivers to see people crossing nearby.
Intersections and marked crossings are typically areas where pedestrian activity is concentrated, especially during school and morning commute hours. Factors such as vehicle positioning, signal timing, and visibility can all influence how safely pedestrians can cross.
After a serious pedestrian crash, investigators often examine traffic signal phases, vehicle placement, witness accounts, and roadway design. These details help clarify how the incident developed and whether timing or visibility played a role in the outcome.
