Why U-Turn Collisions Can Lead to Serious Motorcycle and Moped Injuries
Crashes involving U-turn maneuvers require investigators to closely examine vehicle movements, right-of-way considerations, and driver visibility. When a vehicle changes direction across traffic, investigators may review roadway evidence, witness statements, and vehicle damage to determine how the collision occurred.
Moped and motorcycle riders face a greater risk of injury because they have limited protection compared to occupants of passenger vehicles. Even collisions at moderate speeds can result in significant injuries due to the rider’s exposure during impact.
Investigators frequently analyze roadway design, traffic conditions, and driver actions when reconstructing these crashes. Physical evidence from the scene, along with any available video footage or witness accounts, can help establish the sequence of events and clarify the factors that contributed to the collision.
