Woodruff, SC (July 6, 2026) – A 61-year-old woman died following an early morning house fire on Sunday in Woodruff, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
Emergency crews responded to a residence on Country Estates Road during the early morning hours of July 5 after receiving reports of a residential fire.
Authorities identified the victim as Laura Pillion, 61, who lived at the home. She was pronounced dead at 4:46 a.m. at the scene.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office is investigating the incident alongside the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina State Fire Marshal’s Office, and local fire departments.
Officials said a forensic examination is scheduled for Monday, July 6, as investigators continue working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. No additional information has been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
