Muncie, IN (July 18, 2026) – A 70-year-old woman was killed after a head-on crash involving two SUVs on Thursday, July 16, on IN-32 near County Road 800 East in eastern Delaware County.
Emergency units responded to the scene shortly after 5:10 p.m. following reports of the collision. According to preliminary findings, an eastbound SUV attempted to pass another vehicle before crossing into the westbound lane and striking an oncoming SUV head-on. The driver of the eastbound SUV, identified as 70-year-old Jama Clevenger of Muncie, suffered critical injuries and was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, where she died at 6:14 p.m. in the emergency department.
The westbound SUV was carrying an adult driver, an adult front-seat passenger, and a young child secured in a child safety seat. All three were taken to the same hospital. Officials said the adult passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was expected to be transferred to a hospital in Indianapolis. The conditions of the driver and the child have not been released.
