Victorville, CA (July 18, 2026) – A pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run on Friday morning on the northbound Interstate 15 off-ramp at Bear Valley Road in Victorville.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch log, the call was received at approximately 9:01 a.m. Initial reports indicated a collision involving a big rig and a pedestrian. The semi-truck, described as a red tractor-trailer with California license plate 4XG4573, stopped near Mariposa Road and Bear Valley Road after the contact.

Dispatch notes stated the reporting party was behind the semi-truck and later reported that the pedestrian was lying on the right shoulder. The pedestrian was described as a White male wearing a black shirt and jeans and accompanied by a dog. Additional dispatch information indicated the pedestrian began striking the semi-truck after being hit. No information about the extent of the person’s injuries or whether the suspected hit-and-run driver was located was immediately released.

Investigators continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the hit-and-run and to gather additional evidence.

We extend our best wishes to the injured pedestrian for a full recovery.

How Hit-and-Run Cases Involving Pedestrians Are Typically Investigated

Pedestrian hit-and-run investigations usually rely on several types of evidence collected shortly after the collision. Investigators may review witness statements, surveillance video, traffic cameras, and physical evidence from the roadway. Vehicle descriptions, license plate numbers, and visible damage can also help identify the driver involved.

Medical findings and the pedestrian’s position may provide additional information about how the contact occurred. Investigators also compare roadway evidence with any damage found on the suspected vehicle. As new information is verified, the timeline of the collision may become clearer, helping determine exactly what happened and whether additional charges are warranted.
