Geneva, IL (July 6, 2026) – Emergency units responded to a deadly head-on crash in the 1000 block of South Randall Road on Saturday night, leaving a 71-year-old woman dead and her adult son critically injured.
According to Geneva police, the crash happened around 9:13 p.m. on July 4. A blue Chevrolet Camaro driven by Christian Mares, 40, of Aurora, was traveling north on Randall Road when it crossed over the yellow center line into southbound traffic. The Camaro then collided head-on with a red Nissan Versa.
The Nissan driver, a 71-year-old Geneva woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her son, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital before being airlifted to Stroger Hospital of Cook County with life-threatening injuries.
Mares was charged with multiple felony offenses and taken to the Kane County Jail while awaiting a court hearing. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
