Wichita, KS (June 26, 2026) – A woman was seriously hurt after a collision on K-254 at Greenwich Rd on the northeast edge of Wichita. The collision was reported at about 8:18 p.m. on Wednesday.

A 2020 Kia Sorento was traveling north on N. Greenwich Rd when it entered the eastbound lanes of K-254 before making a U-turn, according to the initial report. The Kia later turned left from the right shoulder and was struck by a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling in the inside lane.

The Kia driver, identified as 38-year-old Rima H.M. Al Azzawi of Las Vegas, Nevada, was taken to Wesley Medical Center with serious injuries. Two children in the Kia, a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old, were not hurt.

The Hyundai driver, Kendra A. Maikori, 49, of Andover, was taken to Wesley Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Her 12-year-old passenger, Imani Maikori, was not hurt. The circumstances surrounding the wreck are still under review. We are thinking of those affected and hope they recover quickly.

How Are Highway Crashes Involving Turning Vehicles Reviewed?

Crashes involving turning vehicles often require a close review of travel paths, lane positions, and driver movements before contact occurs. Investigators may examine roadway markings, vehicle damage, and available statements to understand how each vehicle moved.

Factors such as traffic flow, visibility, and driver decisions can provide additional context. Use of safety equipment, including seat belts, may also be documented as part of the review. A detailed examination of these factors can help explain how a highway collision occurred and the conditions present at the time.
