Leavenworth County, KS (June 26, 2026) – A Kansas City man died after a two-vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike on Thursday morning. The wreck happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 at about 1:15 a.m.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a Jeep Wrangler made an unsafe lane change and struck the rear of a Honda Civic. The Civic left the highway, hit a delineator post, and came to rest in a treeline.
The Civic driver, identified as 44-year-old Roberto Lemus of Kansas City, was killed. The Jeep driver was not hurt. No additional details about the people involved were released.
