Mankato, MN (July 11, 2026) – A woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of northbound Highway 22 and eastbound Bassett Drive in Mankato. Authorities reported the collision at about 3:36 p.m. on Thursday, July 9.
According to the incident report, a 2027 Ford F550 was traveling north on Highway 22 when it collided with a 2026 Buick Enclave traveling east on Bassett Drive. Kayla Marie Root, 73, of New Richland, a passenger in the Buick, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to MCHS Mankato for treatment.
The Buick driver, 72-year-old Burchard Bailey Root, and the occupants of the Ford, 55-year-old Shane Christopher Clement and 63-year-old Tina Marie Obrien, were not injured. We are keeping the injured in our thoughts and hoping for their recovery.
