Woodland, CA (January 14, 2026) – A deadly hit-and-run collision occurred late Tuesday night on northbound Interstate 5 near West Street in Woodland, leaving a pedestrian dead and authorities searching for the driver involved, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers responded to the scene at approximately 11:24 p.m. after receiving reports of a person lying in the center divider of I-5. Upon arrival, they discovered the pedestrian had been fatally struck. The driver responsible for the collision had fled the scene before officers arrived.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the location. Officials have not yet released the individual’s name, age, or gender, pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence from the scene and are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident to come forward. No suspect vehicle description has been made available as of Wednesday morning.
