Chula Vista, CA (January 14, 2026) – A tragic hit-and-run collision claimed the life of 70-year-old Ruizhi You in Chula Vista on Sunday evening. The fatal crash occurred around 5:27 p.m. near the intersection of North Greensview Drive and Park Meadows Road, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
Officers responded to multiple reports of a person lying in the roadway and arrived to find a male pedestrian with critical injuries. Paramedics rendered aid at the scene, but the victim was pronounced deceased shortly after. The Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the deceased as Ruizhi You, a resident of Chula Vista.
Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle involved fled the area before police arrived. Investigators are currently working to identify the driver and vehicle, reviewing surveillance footage and seeking help from the public to gather additional details.
The intersection was temporarily closed as authorities processed the scene and collected evidence. No suspect information has been made public at this time.
