Union City, CA (September 13, 2026) – According to the accident report, a 14-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision at an intersection in Union City. The collision was reported around 8:05 a.m. on Friday, September 11, at Alvarado-Niles Road and Decoto Road.

A silver Mazda sedan and a commercial box truck collided at the intersection. The teen was found in the front passenger seat of the Mazda and was taken to an area hospital. The teen’s condition was not immediately updated. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The intersection and nearby streets were closed after the collision. They remained closed until about noon. Police said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.

Our thoughts are on the injured teen and hoping for a strong and full recovery.

What Can Make a Crash Especially Serious for a Young Passenger?

Passengers can suffer significant injuries in a vehicle crash depending on the location and force of the impact. Their injuries may also be affected by whether they were properly restrained and where they were seated inside the vehicle.

Children and teens should use seat belts that fit correctly for their age and size. A properly worn seat belt helps keep a passenger in the vehicle and reduces the chance of being thrown during a collision. Airbags are also designed to work with seat belts.

After a serious crash, medical professionals may check for injuries involving the head, neck, chest, or other parts of the body. Some symptoms may not become clear immediately after an impact.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
