Spanish Fort, AL (July 13, 2026) – Authorities are investigating a serious head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver on the Bayway that left two people injured early Friday morning. The collision occurred around 4:42 a.m. on July 10 near Spanish Fort.
According to officials, the wrong-way vehicle struck an oncoming car head-on before emergency units arrived. Both drivers were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The crash caused significant traffic backups, and additional collisions were reported in the westbound lanes that may have resulted from the congestion created by the initial crash.
Officials are also reviewing whether another crash reported near the Wallace Tunnel before the Bayway collision involved the same wrong-way driver.
