Harris County, TX (September 2, 2026) – Two drivers died after a wrong-way accident on the westbound Beltway 8 Toll Road at Telephone Rd. The fatal wreck happened on September 2 and shut down all westbound lanes for several hours.
The two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when they collided, according to the initial report. A man and a woman were the only occupants of their respective vehicles, and both lost their lives.
The male driver became trapped inside his vehicle, which caught fire after the collision. It was not immediately confirmed whether the fire contributed to his death. The identities of both drivers had not been released.
The circumstances that led to the wrong-way driving remain under investigation. Investigators continue working to determine who was traveling against traffic, while additional details about the accident remain limited.
