Fort Bend County, TX (September 2, 2026) – A head-on collision on Tuesday morning, September 1, left a 66-year-old man dead and two teenagers hurt in Fort Bend County.

The collision happened on U.S. Hwy 90 near FM 1952, according to investigators. A 2007 Freightliner was traveling east on U.S. 90 when a 2025 Honda sedan traveling west entered the eastbound lane.

The vehicles then collided head-on. Investigators have not determined why the Honda crossed into the wrong lane.

The Freightliner driver was a 66-year-old man from Sealy. The Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Honda was driven by a 16-year-old girl. A 10-year-old boy was riding as a passenger. Both were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for medical treatment. Their relationship was not disclosed. Investigators are continuing to examine what caused the wrong-way movement.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones of the man who died.

What Happens During the Review of a Head-On Collision?

A head-on collision can involve several factors that must be carefully examined. Investigators may review vehicle positions, roadway markings, traffic signs, and damage patterns to determine how the vehicles moved before the crash.

Vehicle data can also provide useful information. Depending on the vehicles involved, electronic systems may record speed, braking, steering activity, or other driving information.

Witness accounts can help establish what drivers were doing before the vehicles met. Investigators may also examine photographs, video footage, and physical evidence from the roadway.

Road design and visibility can receive attention when a vehicle enters an opposing lane. Weather, lighting, and traffic conditions may also be considered when reconstructing the sequence of events.
