Why Lane Closures Commonly Follow Traffic Collisions
After a traffic collision, temporary lane closures are commonly put in place to help protect everyone working near the roadway and to reduce the risk of additional crashes. Closing part of a road creates space for emergency personnel to assist those involved, remove damaged vehicles, and clear debris safely.
The amount of time a lane remains closed depends on several factors, including the number of vehicles involved, roadway damage, and whether specialized equipment is needed. Drivers approaching these areas are encouraged to reduce speed, stay alert, and follow posted directions. Taking extra care around temporary traffic controls helps improve safety for everyone using the road while cleanup efforts are underway.
